The fourth Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar
and Vietnam (CLMV) summit will be held in Hanoi from October
23-26, a Foreign Ministry spokesman announced on September 20.
The third Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya
Mekong Economic Co-operation Strategy (ACMECS) summit will be
held at the same time.
This year’s CLMV and ACMECS
summits will review the bodies work, set future co-operation
orientation for ACMECS and CLMV, and approve summits’
documents.
The ACMECS, initiated by Thailand
to be established in November 2003, at first included
Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. Vietnam joined the group
a year later.
CLMV was set up in 2004 under
Laos’ initiative. The group passed the Vientiane Declaration
on Enhancing Economic Co-operation and Integration Among CLMV
at its first summit. (VNA) |
