President Triet

Lao NA Chairman visits Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam will continue to give its support to Laos' integration process, including its joining of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet made the affirmation on November 22 while meeting with the visiting Lao National Assembly Chairman Thongsing Thammavong.

President Triet expressed his pleasure at the progress of the Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation over recent years.

President Triet said he hoped that under the leadership of Chairman Thammavong, the Lao National Assembly would attain achievements in law making, and actively contribute to the implementation of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party's Resolution passed at its eight congress.

The Lao NA Chairman congratulated Vietnam's success in organising the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, and entry into the WTO, thereby improving its position in regional and international arenas.

The Lao State, Party and people would do their best to maintain and develop Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation, he stressed. (VNA)
