Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has
called for further efforts to boost the implementation of
the existing co-operation mechanism between Vietnam and
India as well as set up a new mechanism for bilateral
co-operation.
While receiving Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the
sidelines of the 15th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits on
October 25 in Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand, PM Dung spoke highly
of the co-operation with India in the fields of economics,
equipment transfer, technology and education and training.
The two leaders also expressed their delight at the
development of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and
India, especially in economics, trade and investment.
Indian PM Manmohan Singh said that the government and people
of India always attach much importance to its strategic
partnership with Vietnam. The Indian businesses are
interested in making investment in the Southeast Asian
nation.
However, the Indian PM added, the two sides should further
their ties in the fields of trade, investment, national
defence and security.
He also said it is hoped that Vietnam, in its capacity as
ASEAN chair in 2010, will support India’s efforts to boost
relations with ASEAN.
After the meeting between the two leaders, they attended a
signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding, under
which India recognised Vietnam’s fully economic market. (VNA) |
