Results achieved at the
freshly-ended sixth session of the 12th National Assembly
(NA) are expected to spur Vietnam’s socio-economic
development and improve the quality and efficiency of the
NA’s operations.
NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong made this assessment at the
closing session of the NA session in Hanoi on November 27 in
the presence of Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State
President Nguyen Minh Triet, and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan
Dung.
Chairman Trong affirmed that the NA’s sixth session
concluded successfully and called on all involved in making
the new laws and resolutions a reality - the Government, the
People’s Supreme Court, the People’s Supreme Procuracy, the
Vietnam Fatherland Front, member organisations, and all
sectors and relevant agencies - strictly adhere to them,
accelerating management and increasing responsibilities of
the political system and the people in overcoming
difficulties and undertaking national construction and
defence.
Chairman Trong stressed that 2010 will be hard as it is the
last year of the 2006-2010 plan. It will be a year of many
important events and major anniversaries, including the
1,000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the 80th
anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the 65th
National Day.
The NA Chairman called on all people and organisations in
the country, and all Vietnamese living abroad, to make their
utmost efforts to contribute to fulfilling the 2010
socio-economic development plan.
Earlier, NA deputies approved a resolution on supervision
designed to improve the efficiency of the implementation of
policies on management and the use of State-owned capital
and property by State-owned groups and corporations, as well
as a resolution responding to an inquiries at the 12th NA,
sixth session.
Regarding the latter, 264 inquiries conveyed via documents
from 44 groups of NA deputies were sent to the Prime
Minister, heads of ministerial-level agencies, the Chief
Judge of the People’s Supreme Court and the Director of the
People’s Supreme Procuracy. The Prime Minister, the State
Bank Governor, and the Minister of Information and
Communications, Industry and Trade, and of Home Affairs
directly answered 112 questions.
Questions and answers focused on important and urgent
matters impacting the daily lives and aspirations of the
people. Many major issues were raised relating to
socio-economic management, and how the Government and its
members arrive at their decisions and perform their
functions.
The NA asked Cabinet members and the Chief Judge of the
People’s Supreme Court to continue answering NA deputies’
questions in documents and put practical measures in place
to implement the resolutions on the 2010 socio-economic
development plan as well as the 2010 State budget estimate
and report their results at the coming sessions, which will
cover a wide range of issues: the economic stimulus package,
foreign currency market management, monetary policy control,
State management of the press, the internet and telecom
infrastructure, management and development of the local
market, import-export management, development of small- and
medium-sized hydro-power plants, personnel training and
management and administrative reform. (VNA) |
