Prompted by increasing trade activities, Vietnam’s central Quang Tri province opened an auxiliary border gate to its Lao neighbour Salavan on June 29.

The Coc border gate and its Laos counterpart A Xoc was opened as part of activities to mark the 54th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos and their signing of a comprehensive friendship agreement 30 years ago.

Authorities of the two provinces took this occasion to reiterate their co-operation in upgrading infrastructure at areas surrounding the border gates to facilitate operation of local businesses.

This is the sixth border gate opened between Quang Tri province and its neighbouring provinces of Laos. (VNA)
