The first ever pictorial book on
the 60-year history of Vietnamese Government - 1945-2005,
was made public on August 31 by the Vietnam News Agency
(VNA) Publishing House and the Institute for Scientific
Research on State Organisation of the Ministry of Home
Affairs. |

On the 60th anniversary of the
diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 – August 28, 2005),
Vietnam’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs held a seminar on the
outcome of external relations in execution of the
resolutions of the 9th National Party Congress and
orientations for its future operations. Papers at the
seminar analysed theoretical and practical lessons drawn
from the evolution of the diplomatic sector in the past 60
years to gear up Vietnam’s diplomacy in the new stage of

The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 23 held a seminar to
review the results of the implementation of the ninth Party
Congress’s resolution on diplomacy and orientations in the
new stage on the occasion of its 60th anniversary August 28,
1945 – August 28, 2005). Speeches delivered at the seminar
stressed that over the past 60 years, under the leadership
of the Party and the direct guidance of President Ho Chi Minh, the diplomatic service has made great progress and
recorded many achievements, contributing to common glorious
victories of the nation. |

India-Vietnam Friendship Association on August 25. |

In the animated atmosphere marking
the 60th anniversary of the August Revolution and National
Day, September 2, the Ministry of Culture and Information, in
co-ordination with the People’s Committee of Tuyen Quang
province held an art performance entitled ‘Tan Trao shines
forever with green capital’ in Tuyen Quang town. |

The
house at number 78, Giai Phong Street, Hanoi has become a
meeting place for many revolutionary veterans and leaders in
the northern region of the country during special occasions.
Leaders of Hanoi have visited the house many times and
presented the owner with many gifts. This year, the owner of
the house is 100 years old with 75 years as a Party member. He
was the man who was part of a special event. His name is
Truong Dinh Dan. |

Vietnam's
achievements in ensuring social progress and equality
|

|
Just after the Democratic
Republic of Vietnam declared its foundation on September 2,
1945, the Revolutionary government implemented policies to
ensure social equality, such as giving land for tillers and
encouraging all people regardless of ethnic group, age or
gender to attend literacy classes and to take part in social
activities. |

The success of the 1945 August
Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh put it, was indebted to the
clear-sighted and determined leadership of the Party. With
this victory, not only the working class and Vietnamese people
but also working people and oppressed nations elsewhere in the
world were proud that for the first time in revolutionary
history of colonies and semi-colonies, a Party with only 15
years of experience, was able to successfully lead a
revolution and seize power on the national scale. 1 |

Preparations for mass parades at
Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on September 2 to mark the 60th
anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day
have almost completed, announced the National Steering Board
for Organisation of Important Anniversaries on August 17. |

I wrote
the national anthem |
|

In November, 1944, the song “Tien Quan Ca” (Marching
Song) was composed at the request for a song for the
revolutionary army. The song composed by Van Cao resounded the
magnanimous sound of the whole country in upraising so it was
accepted immediately by millions of people and since then, the
song has become the national anthem. On the occasion of the
60th founding anniversary of the country, Nhan Dan newspaper
presents an article by late composer Van Cao recalling his
composition of the national anthem. |

National Day and
August Revolution marked at revolutionary base

A
meeting to mark the National Day (September 2) and 60th
anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) was held on
August 16 in northern mountainous Tuyen Quang province, where
the Party and the National Congress met and decided on a
general uprising to seize power from French colonialists 60
years ago. |
