Elenilo (red) scores the second goal for Haiphong.

Nhan Dan Online - The V-League resumed on July 1 in the 19th round, witnessing impressive performance of Haiphong as they defeated defending champions Binh Duong 2-0 to replace The Cong in the top place.

Both teams lost several key players due to injuries, therefore they applied defence-attack tactic. Binh Duong dominated the first half but failed to create goal opportunities. 

In the last minute of first half, Ngoc Thanh opened the score with a powerful header and marked his eleventh goal for Haiphong in the championship since January.

After the break, Haiphong controlled the game with good performances of defending and striking lines.

Elenilo doubled the score for the hosts Haiphong in the 75th minute as he received a long pass from Minh Chau and then passed Binh Duong's defenders before firing a shot into the top corner.

The win is Haiphong's ninth unbeaten league match at their Lach Tray stadium. Haiphong now have 32 points, one point ahead The Cong who was beaten 2-0 by Hanoi ACB.

In other matches, Da Nang crushed two-time champions Hoang Anh Gia Lai 4-0 while Thanh Hoa defeated Binh Dinh 4-3.

Southern Steel Saigon Port beat Dong Tam Long An 1-0. Hoa Phat Hanoi were defeated by Khanh Hoa 3-1 and now share bottom place with Hanoi ACB. 

Today, Song Lam Nghe An will meet Nam Dinh in the latest match of the round.
