Ho Chi Minh City International Football Tournament

Home fans disappointed

Minh Phuong's first goal couldn't  help Vietnam to earn a draw.

The Vietnamese men's football team really made the fans disappointed after losing their third game at Ho Chi Minh City International Football Tournament 2008.

Vietnam joined the final match yesterday against Turkmenistan who had two victories over the Republic of Korea’s student team and Myanmar. Minh Phuong did really send the home crowd to their feet with a score in the 16th minute. However, the hosts' joy was shortlived when two minutes after that, Bedry equalised for Turkmenistan after receiving the ball from Mamedaly. From then on, Vietnam seemed to get stuck to find the way to the guests' net.

After a series of errors from the Vietnamese goalkeeper and defenders, the Turkmenistans had the second and the third goals by Mamedaly and Aris respectively. Cong Vinh's goal in the last minute of the second half didn't help Vietnam to prevent the third losing match at the tournament.

Earlier, the Republic of Korea’s student team defeated Myanmar 4-1 to finish the tournament in second place.
