Vietnam stun China 3-1 to win title

Nhan Dan Online- U-23 Vietnam crushed U-23 Chine 3-1 in a very interesting and thrilling game at My Dinh stadium on November 7.

With six points Vietnam won the VFF Smartdoor Cup regardless of the outcome of the third match between Vietnam and Thailand on November 9 as Thailand has two points and China, Singapore have one point each after two matches.

China started the game carefully but Mai Tien Thanh’s wonderfull shot gave Vietnam the lead in the 8th minute.

After the goal, China produced attack after attack to level but could not breach Vietnam’s well-organised defence.Goalkeeper Tan Truong played well, saving several shots from guest team.

In the end of the first half, Vietnam missed two opportunities to score when Thanh Binh shot wide of the right post and Tien Thanh fired over the crossbar.

After the break , China dominated the match but in a quick attack Thanh Luong doubled the score for Vietnam in the 59th minute.

From this moment China intensified their attacks, creating several chances to score.  In the 70th minute Zhang Linpeng’s super shot from free kick gave keeper Tan Truong no chance. China continued attacking but their several shots were saved by  Tan Truong.

In a quick counter-attack, Trong Hoang widened the gap to 3-1 in the last minute.

This is the second victory for Vietnam at VFF Cup after beating Singapore 1-0 two days ago.

As a result, Vietnam won the VFF Cup one match early while Thailand with two points, China and Singapore one point each will compete for the second and third place in the last match.

Singapore draw 1-1 with Thailand

Earlier, Singapore drew 1-1 with Thailand at MyDinh stadium at the VFF Smartdoor Cup.

Thailand stared slowly and dominated the match while Singapore played solidly in defence, waiting for a chance to attack

In the last minute of the first half, Soleb opened the scoring for Thailand with his close-range shot.

Two minutes into the second half, Singapore equalised when Thai goalkeeper had his own goal.

After the equaliser, Thailand intensified their attacks but all their efforts were in vain and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
