Nhan Dan Online – Vietnam won two
bronze medals on the opening day of petanque at the 24th SEA
Games in Thailand on December 7.
The medals went to Nguyen Thi Hien
and Le Hong Phuoc in women’s and men’s shooting events,
respectively.
Hong Phuoc ranked fourth in the
first round, scoring 31 points but set a Games record in the
second round with a total of 47 points.
However, he failed to make the
final after a 30-33 defeat to Laos’ Vathanxay Khamphavong in
the semi-finals. Vathanxay then beat Thaloengkiat Phusa-at
43-40 to win the gold medal.
Nguyen Thi Hien scored 25 points
in the first round as Cambodia’s Piseth Em but is ranked
second.
Nguyen Thi Hien played Thailand’s
Thongrsi Thamakord in the semi-finals and went down 46-32 and
won a bronze medal.
