Nhan Dan Online- U-23 Vietnam came from behind to trounce
U-23 Singapore 4-1 in an attractive game to reach the final.
Vietnam started the match confidently and produced various
attacks but could not breach Singapore’s strong defence. Meanwhile Singapore
played
solidly in defence, waiting for chances to attack. Their
counter attacks were very dangerous. In the 10th minute Nizam Bin’s
shot hit the crossbar. Then it was Vietnam”s turn to attack. In the 15th
minute Dinh Tung shot over Singapore’s crossbar and Thanh Binh header was wide
of the post in the 26th minute. One minute later in a quick counter
attack, Nizam scored the opener for Singapore.
Five minutes later Thanh Binh headed to equalise for
Vietnam from Dinh Dong’s free kick shot. Encouraged by the goal Vietnam
intensified their attacks. In the 41st minute Tien Thanh fired the
second goal from Thanh Hung’s wonderful pass.

Right after the restart, Singapore brought pressure to bear
on Vietnam to equalise. They dominated the game in the first 15 minutes of the
second half before letting Vietnam to dominate the game. In the 70th
minute Thanh Luong sent a cross into the right of the box to Chu Ngoc Anh who
lashed it into the net. In the 74th minute Thanh Binh failed to score
his second goal when his shot from the penalty spot was saved by Singapore’s
goalkeeper Juma’at
In the third minute of injury time, Nguyen Ngoc Anh scored
the fourth goal.
Beating Singapore 4-1 Vietnam reached the final where they
will meet group rivals Malaysia.

Malaysia thrash Laos 3-1 to play in final
The same day in the second semi-final, U-23 Malaysia
demolished U-23 Laos 3-1 in an interesting game at Laos national stadium.
Malaysia took the lead in the first half with Bakhtiar’s
goal. After the goal Laos tried their best to fight back. Their efforts paid off
in the 73rd minute when Kanlaya levelled the score with his super
long-range shot.
In the 80th minute it was Bakhtiar again who
fired the second goal before Safig Rahim scored the third goal for Malaysia.
As a result Vietnam will take on Malaysia in the final and
Laos will compete with Singapore for the bronze medal on December 17.
