Vietnamese-American player Lee Nguyen has officially become a member of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club (HAGL) after a three-year contract was signed in Ho Chi Minh City on January 17.

The 23-year-old striker will appear before the public right from the opening match of V-League 2009, wearing the number 24 jersey and being named Lee Nguyen The Anh.

HAGL President Doan Nguyen Duc revealed that his club will pay Lee a monthly salary of US$ 10,000, much less than the rumoured level of US$ 40,000.

As a well-known football player of Vietnamese origin, Lee wore the US National Team jersey in mid 2007 and once played for the Netherlands’ PSV Eindhoven.(VNA)
