Israeli child prodigy pianist to perform in Vietnam

Nhan Dan Online- Israeli 9 year-old genius pianist Tom Zalmanov  will play with the orchestra of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music for only one performance on September 6, at 8pm in the concert hall of the conservatory, 112 Nguyen Du street.

Tom Zalmanov  was born in 1999 and began his piano studies when he was  5 years old. At the age of 6, Tom participated in many musical public events. So far, he has joined and won high prizes in many national and international competitions such as  the second prize in "Pnina Zaltzman" Competition of Young Pianists, a special prize in “Rotary” International Competition for young musicians in Moscow and the second prize in the Israeli TV Competition “The Next Big Thing”.

In 2006, Tom won a Scholarship of America-Israel Cultural Foundation for two academic years 2006-2008. This scholarship is generally granted to students from the age of 12. Tom was an exception when he won this scholarship at the age of 7.

This is Tom’s second international tour. Late last year, Tom performed in Holland and Denmark. In this year tour, Tom has two recitals in Bangkok, Thailand before coming to Vietnam.

In the coming concert in Ho Chi Minh city, the Israeli “Wonder Child” will give his personal interpretation of Mozart and Schubert in solo performance; and together with Chamber-symphony orchestra of the Conservatory, he will perform Beethoven’s Concerto No. 1.

Tom Zalmanov will also play with other young Vietnamese piano talents in the concert hall of the Conservatory on September 4.

The programme is organised by the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory of Music.
