Nhan Dan – The international contest on Thang Long – Hanoi entitled ‘Hanoi – your destination’ was launched at University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University on May 18.

The contest was co-organised by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations and the National Steering Committee for 1000th anniversary of Thang Long.

Representatives of embassies and many foreign students learning in Hanoi attended the ceremony. The speech by chairmen of the Hanoi Fatherland Front and the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisation stressed that this contest had been held annually from 2000 to 2008 attracting thousands of people from many nationalities worldwide. There are only over 500 days to go for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi. The Organising Board continues to launch the contest in 2009 – 2010 and encourages participants throughout the world to learn about the history, culture and achievements on renovation and integration of Hanoi city as well as strengthen the friendship between the Vietnamese people and other peoples worldwide.
